Know God

I think the easiest way to explain why we need Jesus is through the four spiritual laws. Just like the physical world has laws like gravity that govern it, there are spiritual laws that govern our relationship with God. They are explained in the Bible. In a nutshell they are:

1.

God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life which He wants to share with you.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
John 10:10

God is perfect and holy, but since no person is perfect and we all make mistakes (sin) at some point, we are separated from God.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Romans 3:23

God made a way for us to be connected to Him through a relationship with His son Jesus Christ who died and rose again to save us. It's like a free gift but we have to accept it to get the benefits.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.
1 Corinthians 15:3-6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6

In order to have a relationship with God, we need to admit that we are less than perfect and ask Jesus to forgive us and have a relationship with us.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
John 1:12

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Revelation 3:20

If you want to have a relationship with God you simply need to pray and ask Jesus to come into your life. It is not about saying certain words and you don't need to go to a church or talk to a priest to get this gift. You just need to be sincere in your heart and you could ask God something like this: God, I know that I am not perfect and I am sorry for doing wrong. I am glad to learn about you sending your son to die for my sins. Thank you for forgiving me and for offering me a relationship with you and a place in heaven. Please help me to be the person you made me to be and give you control of my life and my decisions.

When you accept God's free gift of a relationship with Jesus, then your name is written in the Book of Life and you can be assured you are going to heaven one day. But in addition to that, God will give you direction, peace, guidance, comfort, happiness and more in your life here on earth.
